| Day 1 | ima | On arrival at Lima airport, you will be welcomed by an English-speaking guide and transferred to your five star hotel. Lima was founded by the Spanish conquistador Francisco Pizzaro in 1535. It possesses all the colourful vitality of an oriental bazaar with its cloud covered winters and light warm summers, with beautiful old buildings in quiet, elegant corners, where the evening air is full of the scent of jasmine. | Day 2 | Lima | Our morning sightseeing tour explores the old and new parts of the city. The Plaza de Armas with the beautiful buildings of the Government Palace, the Town Hall, the Palace of the archbishop and the Cathedral are still the most important places in town. We continue on to the San Francisco Convent and then the most popular place, Plaza San Martin. Later, visit the famous Gold Museum. This evening dinner will be served at our hotel. | Day 3 | Urubamba Valley | Today we transfer to the airport for our flight to Cuzco. On arrival we begin a full day excursion to the Pisac Indian Market and Ollantaytambo. First we stop at the colourful Pisac Indian Market. An old mountain village with buildings that indicate the detail of the Inca architecture. In the afternoon we drive to Ollantaytambo to visit the massive Inca buildings. Then we head to Urubamba Valley where we dine on local specialities at our hotel tonight. | Day 4 | Machu Picchu | Today after breakfast, we start a two day fabulous highlight journey to the Inca city of Machu Picchu. We board our train in Ollantaytambo for our journey to the small village Aguas Calientes. On arrival our small coaches take us up the steep roads to the ruins of the city, that for centuries remain undiscovered by the Spaniards, only to be found by accident in 1911 by Hirma Bingham. The beauty of its location and the genius that went into its construction make this Inca settlement truly one of the great wonders of the world. After a full day visit of the site we return by bus to the village of Aguas Calientes to our hotel for dinner and overnight stay. (Buffet Breakfast, Dinner)Hotel: Machu Picchu Pueblo |
| Day 5 | Cuzco | Enjoy the ruins early in the morning, with an opportunity to visit Machu Picchu again, when no one's around. In the afternoon, we board our train and return to Cuzco. Upon arrival at the train station around 7.00pm, we transfer to our hotel. (Buffet Breakfast) Hotel: Novotel (2 nights) |
| Day 6 | Cuzco | After breakfast, we enjoy a sightseeing tour starting in the centre of the Inca empire, the Plaza de Armas, with its Cathedral built on the ruins of the Inca Palace.Our next stop is the Old Town with its restored colonial buildings, before we visit Sacsayhuaman, a ruin located on a hillside overlooking Cuzco, time to enjoy fabulous views of the city. Then on to the Inca baths of Tambomachay, Kenko the giant rock carved in a strange way, and the ancient site of Puca Pucara. This evening, we will enjoy a dinner of local specialties at a local Restaurant. (Buffet Breakfast, Dinner) |
| Day 7 | Puno | This morning after an early breakfast, we board the 'Andes Train' for our journey which takes us across the Altiplano, past llamas, alpacas, and through desertlike landscapes. We ascend through snow-covered mountain tops as our train reaches the Aguas Calientes station with its hot springs and continues to the highest station of our Andes journey, La Raya. During our journey lunch will be on the train. Arrive at Puno station on the shores of the Lake Titicaca. After a late arrival and check-in at our hotel, your evening is at leisure. | Day 8 | Lake Titicaca | This morning after breakfast we begin a half day tour to the Floating Islands of the Uros Indians in the Titicaca National Reserve. There are 40 small floating islands, where the Uros, descendents of one of the most ancient people in the Americas, continue to live a very simple way of life as their ancestors did. Continue to Taquile Island. The inhabitants continue living according to old traditions and Inca laws and are very hospitable. Lunch will take place at the Island of Taquile. Later we return to our hotel in Puno. (Buffet Breakfast, Lunch) |
| Day 9 | Lima | After breakfast this morning, we transfer to Juliaca airport for our flight to Lima. On route we will visit the archeological ruins of Chullpas de Sillustani. The necropolis, which is one of the largest in the Americas, and one of the most impressive in the world, lies on a peninsula, bordered by the beautiful lake of Umayo. Continue to the airport for the flight to Lima. On arrival we are transferred to the hotel. The rest of your day is at leisure to do as you please. Perhaps shop for some last minute souvenirs. This evening we will enjoy a farewell dinner of local specialties at the Restaurant Rosa Nautica. (Buffet Breakfast, Dinner)Hotel: Plaza del Bosque |
| Day 10 | Return USA | Farewell to Peru as we transfer to the airport for our return flight to America on Tuesday. (Buffet Breakfast) |
